Koji Sese // The 7th Member

An editorial and lifestyle portrait photographer based in Philadelphia. He graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia with a bachelor’s degree in Photography, where his studies of masters like Richard Avedon and Mary Ellen Mark deepened his interest in the field. In 2018, he made a significant transition to focus entirely on shooting with film. This shift brought him greater satisfaction in the entire process of creating an image, from shooting and developing to scanning and printing a photograph. He is a passionate advocate for film photography who embraces its inherent unpredictability and imperfections as a means of fostering creativity and self-expression, resulting in a raw, emotive quality. Through his minimal approach and adept manipulation of natural light, he creates intimate portraits that convey a sense of sincerity and truth. Koji continues to redefine portraiture, using his art to explore the intricacies of human emotion and connection. His work has appeared in numerous publications, solo exhibitions, and self-published books, with his most recent project titled “The Lovely Daze.”
